Combining jangly electric guitars, analogue synths, and heartfelt vocals, Dream
Lawn’s sound is a stirring blend of grit and melancholy, as vibrant as it is evocative.
Inspired by new-wave and Aussie pub rock bands of the ’70s and ’80s, the raw
emotion of early 2000s Midwest emo, and the melodic bass lines underlying dulcet
vocals of late ’70s Manchester post-punk. Built on a foundation of authenticity,
storytelling, introspection, and rock’n’roll, their music carries a lingering nostalgia that
cowers under the force of its immediacy.
It was only after forming that Dream Lawn realized they were all originally surf rat
kids from NSW coastal towns who, over the years, had found themselves immersed
in Sydney’s gritty pubs and underground music scene—and somehow managed to
find each other. Over the past decade of playing in various bands together, the city
has sharpened their edge, giving Dream Lawn the punch and polish to create
honest, cathartic post-punk anthems.
