Sound of Newtown – Terms & Conditions

1. Participation

  • Eligibility: Open to emerging and unsigned bands. Bands must have original music.
  • Submissions: Bands must submit an application through the online portal. Submissions should include band name, genre, short bio, links to their music, and social media handles.
  • Selection: A panel will review submissions and select bands based on talent, originality, and fanbase potential.
  • Lineup: 3 bands will perform each Friday. The order of performance may be determined by a “wheel of fortune”
 

2. Performance Details

  • Set Length: Each band will have a 30-minute set.
  • Backline: tba
  • Soundcheck: Soundcheck will be from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The headline act or a representative band will typically soundcheck. Other bands may do a line check before their set.
  • Load-in: Bands must load in by 6:00 pm.
 

3. Ticket Sales and Payment

  • Ticket Price: Tickets will be $10 or $15. The final price will be determined based on whether it includes a discounted beverage.
  • Band Revenue: Bands will receive 50% of the revenue from tickets they sell if they sell at least 20 tickets.
  • Payment Method: Bands will be paid in cash at the end of the night.
 

4. Event Schedule

  • Dates: Every Friday starting in mid-January.
  • Doors: 8:00 pm.
  • First Act: 8:30 pm (subject to change).
  • Music Curfew: 11:00 pm.
 

5. Marketing and Promotion

  • Venue Promotion: The Botany View Hotel and Young Henrys will promote the event through their social media channels, email lists, and in-house materials.
  • Band Promotion: Bands are encouraged to promote their performance to their own networks.
  • Social Media: Bands agree to allow the venue to use photos and videos taken during their performance for promotional purposes.
 

6. Other

  • Sound Technician: The venue will provide a sound technician.
  • Rider: Bands will receive discounted food and Young Henrys product. 
  • Door Person: The venue will provide a door person.
  • Code of Conduct: Bands and attendees must adhere to the Botany View Hotel’s code of conduct.
 

7. Liability

  • Venue Liability: The Botany View Hotel is not responsible for any loss or damage to bands’ equipment.
  • Band Liability: Bands are responsible for their own actions and the actions of their guests.
  • Changes: These T’c and C’s are subject to change
